9. Keeping in touch invitation letter – when SOME KIT days have previously been used.

Keeping in touch invitation letter – when SOME KIT days have previously been used.

Here you will find an example letter which would be issued to an employee on maternity leave where you would like them to consider returning to work for a specific purpose, e.g. a training day or communication event.

Keeping in Touch (KIT) days allow those on maternity leave to return to work during their leave. Such days are not mandatory (for either employer or employee) so if you want to propose them, you would need to seek agreement. They can be viewed as doing exactly what it sounds like they should do, i.e., “keeping in touch” but such days are not restricted to just keeping the employee in the loop or just being used to undertake their usual duties; they may be used for things such as training – which can be very useful in a fast-changing work environment. Up to 10 KIT days can be used without breaking maternity leave.

This particularly version of the letter is issued when SOME KIT days have been used before. It does need further personalisation shown in RED. It is often the case where you may speak to the employee first about undertaking KIT days; if you do this , you may want to alter the letter to reflect the initial conversations you had (via telephone, email, messaging etc).
